Medford Leas’ Hosts “Adventures of Elizabeth Webb”

1

Travel from England to America on a ship in the late 1600s by studying the journey of Elizabeth Webb with her direct descendent, Midge Webb-Dey, in a Medford Leas’ forum to be held on Saturday, September 10 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Medford Leas theater located at 1 Medford Leas Way.

Elizabeth Webb, who lived from 1663to 1726, was a minister of the Religious Society of Friends and traveled to America to visit several important Quaker meetings with her companion, Mary Rogers. After her visit with Rogers and return to England, Webb eventually returned to America where she settled in Pennsylvania with her husband, Richard, for the last two decades of her life.

Although Webb initially only spent two years in America, she traveled as far south as Virginia and as far north as New Hampshire, journaling the entire time. Webb-Dey will share Webb’s remarkable story, beginning with her departure from England in 1697, in this program titled “Adventures of Elizabeth Webb.” The lecture, which will include Webb’s conversion and call to the Quaker ministry, is being offered at no charge and registration is not required.

Medford Leas is a nationally accredited, not-for-profit community guided by Quaker principles for those aged 55 and older, with campuses in Medford and Lumberton. For more information, call (609) 654–3000 or visit www.medfordleas.org.
